The red light and rope were two things that PFC Jones brought back in addition to the helmet - possibly things he used on the early morning hours of June 6, 1944.
Again, a rayon Westinghouse liner typical of soldiers who enlisted early in the war.
Contrary to popular belief, helmet repaints were often done with glossy paint, as seen in this example as well as others in the museum.
The grime from combat can be seen all over this helmet, especially the buildup underneath the chinstraps.
Dense soap residue accumulated inside the helmet shell, as is typical for genuine and untouched combat used helmets..
